The First Few Weeks--The Highlights!

So, the last few weeks have been an interesting combination of either incredibly boring, or super super fun! So, for your sake, I'll only write about the exciting things, and not the hours I have spent in my room putting my bedroom in boxes for my upcoming move....

So, Fun Things!

1) Houston Dog Show and Barbecue with my parents. Now, the dog show might not sound super fun to all of you but I promise you, it was awesome. Not only because I love dogs more than most people in the world, but because at the dog show, they had all kinds of really funny / fun games and contests that the dogs got to do, which were really fun. My favorite was a game called "Flyball". If you don't know what it is, you should watch this and get to know it--it's so much fun to watch--go to YOUTUBE right now and search "dog flyball" and prepare to be amazed. You'll get hooked.
After that, I went to one of my favorite restaurants, Rudy's BBQ with my parents. We had some GREAT food and some American beer that's actually really great---Shiner beer--made in Texas.
Here's mom and I enjoying ourselves

2) Sailing and Fireworks with Tricia's family. So, my best friend (Tricia) and her family have a really cool sailboat that they keep in a harbor about an hour south of here in a city called Kemah. Every Saturday night in the summer, the city has a huge fireworks show over the water at 21:30--so I went out on the boat with Tricia's family this last Saturday to have some fun on the boat, have a nice dinner and some drinks, and then anchor the boat out in the gulf and watch the fireworks--it was so cool! We just hung out relaxing, watching the show and listening to The Beach Boys and Jimmy Buffet songs. It was a perfect Texas summer night.

3) Day trip to Austin. So, while South Texas was getting hit by a hurricane, my mom and I decided to drive through disgusting rain storms from our house up to Austin (about 2.5 hours away) so that I could sign the lease on my new apartment, drop some forms off at the university, and get my student ID made (I was completely wet when they took my ID picture by the way!) We had a great time--laughed a lot and saw an old friend, Tim, and had lunch with him and he showed us some cool stuff around Austin. Took a few pictures of my new, and very empty apartment--but it generally kind of looks like this:

(my very empty living room)                            (my very empty bedroom!)

Being in Austin was really good because it got me very excited about school and moving up there, which was fun. I also bought season tickets for UT football games, which is a HUGE deal...it's difficult to even explain the insanity of college football (American football, that is). Thousands and thousands of people--every single seat in every single game is sold out months before the actual match, and people treat it like a religion. I'm very very excited for this.

Anyways, this seems about long enough. Send me comments--send me emails--let me know how you're doing and what you're up to these days.

Time to sleep, so goodnight :)

Gotta say it's a little odd to see that you have the same background I do :) Anyhow, the hair is very cute! Glad to hear you're having some good times, and I agree that Austin is a GREAT city. I visited a couple years ago for a week and really enjoyed it. Lots of good music too. We missed you at training. It was intensely crazy the first couple weeks for sure. Now I've only got a week before I head out again. Summer is far too short!
